Design Variance Records was the proposed label for avant-garde artists such as John Cage, Kronos Quartet, Phillip Glass, and Steve Reich to
name a few.
Created with the specific intention of furthering the likes of experimental music artists well known, or otherwise. It's debut promotional album Silent Monkey composed of a specially produced Lucite cube created to house two music CDs. Once assembled the case and CDs become one cohesive unit.
At its core music is a non-visual form that exists but cannot be seen. Used to great effect the transparency is an implied expression literally containing this concept.
