The Barber of Birmingham
The Barber of Birmingham follows Mr. James Armstrong, an 85-year old African American barber in Birmingham, Alabama and a proud civil rights veteran, as he sees his unimaginable dream come true.
Mr. Armstrong’s barber counter was created true to form, filled with the ephemera and barber tools that he surrounded himself with. The title typography is indicative of the hand-painted sign that graces his shop window, a perfect melding of typography and environment.
Official 2011 OscarĀ® nominee, 84th Academy Awards
Official selection at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival
Winner of Juried Best Documentary: Short Subject, 2011 Ashland Independent Film Festival
