Animation, Design 80 million dollars and two years in the making, NASA scientists are building a spaceship that will crash into the moon sending up a 40-mile high cloud of debris. Their goal? To find water, in the form of ice deep beneath the lunar soil.
This series of animations illustrates through a touch of comedic literalism the importance of establishing a lunar rest stop as a refuel point for future space missions. Shipping water to the
moon is extremely cost prohibitive ranging from
15 thousand dollars per kilogram. If found, lunar
water could serve as a cheap alternative and a
practical source of oxygen and hydrogen for use as rocket fuel.
